Travel Tips for Unorthodox Travelers!
Going on your summer trip soon? It feels like everyone else in the world is planning a trip to an exotic island or taking time off to visit some historical, European paradise. Well, it's your time! Cash in those sick days you've been saving up because you're such a hard working person, and take yourself on a much needed trip for relaxation and new sights! But first, check out our LR Lately Blog for some tips on how to make your trip the best it can be! And view a video we grabbed from Buzzfeed that gives space saving tips for those not so light packers...
Websites to Check!
There's always the traveling gnome, of course. Travelocity, Kayak, Expedia, and Hotwire.com are the ones with the funny commercials every knows about. But did you know that those sites track how often you visit them? Your prices become based on the amount of times you've requested prices from them! How sneaky is that? Well, here's a tip to help you get a lower price. Head into your browser settings and clear your history! Then when you head onto the web, it will recognize you as a new born web baby ready for low prices!
BuzzFeed Tricks!
There are also some sites we found on Buzzfeed that can help all kinds of travelers, but especially ones trying to save some money! There is one site they share called Homestay that reminds me of the plot from The Holiday. It's a not so awesome movie starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black. But Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz switch homes because their lives are turned upside down by lost/unrequited love...of course. Anyway, this is a cool site for travelers to hook up with residents of other countries so that they can stay in a more authentic space during their travel time! Homestays are always fun when the locals are genuinely interested in the backgrounds of their guests and love to share their home environments.
If your travel plans do take you to Europe, you can check out "The Man in Seat 61." It has won a ton of awards for best travel website. The man who runs the site is from England and he has created the site to help those unconventional travelers. It's called "Seat 61" because he always requests that seat when he travels alone. The main method of the site seems to be affordable train travel, and seat 61, more often than not, is a single window seat in Europe and the Eastern hemisphere. Besides train travel, the man in the 61st seat also gives you advice on boat travel! We wish we were traveling on a gondola in Paris right now... Dare to dream!
Another cool site is called Jet Lag Roster. This site asks you to fill in your travel circumstances, and gives you tips on dealing with your jet lag in the best way possible. On the bottom of the screen, you can see that the site is endorsed by CNN, Fox, the BBC, and Scientific American so...it must be legit! The site also offers you the ability to plan your jet lag preventative and share it to your Twitter and/or Pinterest pages! You can also download the app from the Apple Store or Google Play to use it on the go, if you forgot to check yourself before jetting off!
The BuzzFeed Vid!
To finish today's blog post, we're sharing a little video with you travelers who need a little more leg room in your suitcases! Not that you're hiding legs in your suitcases...or any body parts....on your way out of the country. *Shudders* Anyway, watch this quirky BuzzFeed video for some packing tips that will help you to make some room (there we go) in those suitcases! For more travel info from us or help toward your airport excursion, give us a call at 1.888.386.8181 to book your stress-free ride to Manchester or Boston! We'll be glad to get you there and talk all about your jet lag worries on the way! Thanks for reading!
