Now that you’ve read a Memorial Day editorial and identified war memorials in the state, you can check out today’s LR Lately Blog that shares events happening in the Lakes Region on Monday! So buy your giant meat packs, barbecue coals, and sunscreen, but don’t forget to celebrate our veterans with these events! Most of these events start early in the morning, so there will be plenty of time to enjoy your grilled food later in the day.
The Hobo Railroad in Lincoln
The first event is in Lincoln at the Hobo Railroad. The park is honoring the military by offering veterans a free ride for the day. Family members attending Hobo Railroad events can purchase tickets for children 3-11($12) and people 12+($16). Children under two ride for free! After a ride at the railroad, you could enjoy a family trip to the Chutter's candy store down the road and grab a bite at the Common Man, Gordis, El Charro, or The Gypsy Cafe!
Mount Washington Cruise on Winnipesaukee
The Mount Washington Cruise Ships are offering free cruises for kids 12 and under starting at 10AM. Choose any of the ports from Weirs Beach, Wolfeboro, Alton Bay, Center Harbor, or Meredith and enjoy the cruise with your family. Adults sail for $30 per person, and veterans with their spouses can sail for $10 per person. See if you can take a detour off of the Meredith port and grab lunch at Church Landing, Lago’s, or any of the great Mill Falls restaurants.
24th Annual Craft Festival in Meredith
But besides any of the great food at Mill Falls, you can enjoy the 24th annual Memorial Day Craft Festival happening there with over 100 vendors. It starts at 10AM and goes until 5PM. The craft fair has no fee, but you’ll need to bring your grocery bag tote to collect all the awesome homemade goods you’re going to love!
Memorial Day Parades
Besides the fair and discount events for veterans, there are also Memorial Day Parades in Alton and Plymouth. The Alton Parade starts at 10AM in Monument Square and the Plymouth Parade starts at 10AM in front of the armory. The New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery is also holding its Memorial Day ceremony at 11AM in Boscawen to commemorate our fallen soldiers. All are invited to attend all three events.
Please Attend!
We hope you enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend and get a chance to attend any of these great Memorial Day opportunities. I’m hoping to be at the parade in Plymouth! Subscribe to the LR Lately blog for more news in the Lakes Region!
