Summer is hopefully on its way in the coming days. We haven’t really seen a hot day to lend itself to our normal, summer outdoor outings! But there is a summer tradition we can all indulge in even when the weather isn’t so cooperative. That tradition is summer ice cream eating! To get the “scoop” on the best ice cream shops in the Lakes Region, we took a poll of some shoppers at the Tilton Outlets so we could learn about the top ice cream places in the area.
The first ice cream place mentioned by Tilton Outlet shoppers was the Kellerhaus. Established in 1906 in Laconia, this space offers a few candy store with fudge, jellies jams, maple products, and ice cream! Although the shop was originally named after its first owner Otto G. Keller, is no longer owned by the Keller family. The current owners continued the legacy and kept the Keller name with the business. The Kellerhaus is open Monday through Friday from 10AM-10PM and then it opens at 8AM on Saturdays and Sundays. Kellerhaus also has a Weekend Waffle Breakfast special from 8AM – noon!
Liliuokalani’s was the next biggest poll choice on our list at the outlets. This one was especially big with tourists because, apparently, you can pull your boat right up to the site to order! Liliuokalani was the name of the last monarch and only queen of the Kingdom of Hawaii. By the name, one can only suppose that Liliuokalani’s Ice Cream and Coffee Bar is royally delicious! Located at 956 Weirs Boulevard in Laconia, this place gets a lot of Lakes Region tourism! With its colorful interior and cow décor, this space is a great one to indulge in summer treats.
The next top choice for ice cream in the Lakes Region is Sawyer’s Dairy Bar in Gilford! Their exterior looks like a food stand at Fenway which makes it very appealing to the New England eye. They’re celebrating their 70th season this year! They serve diner food, seafood, and their awesome ice cream. Past employees from Sawyer’s can go online and sign up to celebrate the Sawyer’s reunion! They just fill out the form, supply their email, and wait for updates about the get together.
The biggest choice for ice cream in the Lakes Region was Jordan’s Ice Cream in Belmont. Jordan’s has over 5700 likes on Facebook AND they post incredible photos of their ice cream creations online so you can see them on your Facebook feed…for obvious digital drooling purposes... Jordan’s is one of the younger shops on this list having only been open 21 years, but they make up for it with ice cream creativity. Jordan’s is open every day from 11:30 AM to 9 PM.
Visit these awesome ice cream spots in the New Hampshire Lakes Region and let us know what you think! The rumor is that John Travolta loves one of these ice cream spots and flies into the Laconia Airport just to grab some homemade ice cream. Does anyone know which one it is?
