Some days we can already feel it: the warmth in the air that tells us spring will be here soon. Although we are still getting some snowy flurries and sweeping winds with negative degree nights, the sun has started to come out to show itself! With that warmth comes my particular wish to shed my winter coat and go outside to enjoy the weather! It’s only a matter of time before people start boycotting their winter clothes and try to wear flip flops in the still inappropriate weather. Besides the urge to sport my flip flops, the coming of spring is also inspiring some of us to get active! If you are one of those people, it might be smart to learn about the yoga studios in the Lakes Region where you can get your body moving! Warm yourself up even if the weather won’t!
First there is the Dragonfly Yoga Barn in North Sandwich. The “drop-in” fee for one class is $12! A mat rental, if you aren’t equipped with your own, is only for $1 a class. The yoga space is a large barn studio with hard wood flooring and French windows overlooking the mountains. Their space offers live music for yoga classes and concerts as well as full retreats for men and women. Their next retreat is in May on the Rocky-wold-Deephaven Camps that is themed around Squam Lake and the outdoor events retreaters can do on the lake. Breakfast, canoeing, yoga sessions, and wine tastings are available. If that won’t warm up our cold, wintery bodies, I don’t know what will!
The next yoga studio is located in Laconia and is called Yoga from the Heart. The studio offers classes, workshops, a spa, and trainings for yoga teacher hopefuls! Healing yoga, meditation, and yoga for all levels are available in their schedule all year round. The “drop-in” rate here is also $12 and you can purchase online with Paypal. The studio in Laconia focuses mostly on restoration from cancer treatments for patients with breast and uterine cancers. It is a very female-friendly environment though men also join the classes. This is the studio to visit if you’re looking for a restorative treatment with your yoga body warming.
During the writing of this piece, I was disappointed to learn that Sacred Waters at Mill Falls has had to close its doors. They were closed as of March 4th. However, they are hopeful that Sacred Waters will be reopening in a new space in the Lakes Region. The LR Lately Blog is staying in contact with their marketing directors and will have updates on their journey to a new space!
I can hardly wait to partake in some yoga wellness for springtime! It will be especially great when I won’t have to put on a coat after a session. Getting all bundled up to go out onto the salty sidewalks is the perfect thing to put a damper on all that wellness! Get involved with one of these yoga studios and tag us in a photo with your yoga buddies! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for all the Lakes Region updates! #LakesRegAirportShuttle
