Farm stands and arts and crafts fairs are popping up everywhere around us lately. The warm weather is perfect for local farmers and artists to show off their hard work in those local goods! The LR Lately blog is featuring the Lakes Region Fine Arts and Crafts Festival coming to Mill Falls on August 29th and 30th that will be put on by the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce. We spoke to Sue Cerutti, Executive Director of the Chamber, for more information about the 36th year of this event!
The festival is held in the upper lot of the Mill Falls marketplace close to the restaurants, hotels, Mount Washington Cruise line, and wineries in that area. It’s the perfect place for being in the center of the action but also the perfect place to get really stuck in traffic. The event will be closing Main Street down, but you can count on us at the Lake’s Region Airport Shuttle to get you there from one of two designated parking areas. The first place is at Prescott Park north of the lights in Meredith, and the second is at the Belknap Family Health Center south of the lights.
Sue divulged some of the elements we can look forward to that will be appearing at the festival: “On display will be a wide array for fine art including oil and watercolor paintings, photography, and silk screen prints. In the craft category the show will feature fiber, pottery, wood, baskets, leather, and jewelry. There will be continuous musical entertainment which will take place under the tent at Community Park on Main Street. In addition, several community organizations will be offering a wide variety of culinary delights.” The sign up deadline for entries was May 1st and included an entry fee, four high resolution photos of the artist’s work, and an application through the chamber. It looks like they get a whole lot of entries which means we have some pretty crafty people in our region!
For musicians interested in performing, they could probably contact the chamber via email. Perhaps we’ll get a chance to see some of those Make Music Plymouth performers at the Fine Arts and Crafts Festival in August!
