How to make the most of your trip to Lake Winnipesaukee
Posted On: 10/16/2017
On your visit to New Hampshire, there’s no spot more beautiful – or fun – than Lake Winnipesaukee. From water sports and relaxing on the beach to arcades and museums, this lake has everything you could need to keep you and your family and friends entertained on your visit. Lakes Regional has created a short guide to the absolute must-do attractions in the area.
Weirs Beach
Weirs Beach is Lake Winnipesaukee’s most popular strip of sand – and it’s no wonder why! Complete with a 1300 foot long boardwalk, incredible views of the surrounding waterways and mountains, and fireworks shows all summer long, Weirs Beach has been a central hub of local activity for as long as most can remember. Don’t forget to stop by Funspot, which has over 300 classic arcade games, bowling, mini-golf, and more!
Cruise
You’re at a lake, so you have to see the water. Water sports and swimming are great fun, but Mount Washington Cruises daily guided experiences are a must-do. Grab your group and set sail aboard the M/S Mount Washington for one of the most breathtaking cruises in New England. The Dinner Dance cruises even include buffet dinners and live music and dancing.
Castle in the Clouds
A visit to this mountaintop estate promises 270-degree views of the surrounding mountains and waterways, and tours of one of New England’s most iconic turn-of-the-century mansions. Each of the 16 rooms is open to visitors, but be sure check the website for reservations ahead of time!
Museums
Lake Winnipesaukee is also home to many history and natural science institutions that are perfect for escaping less-than-ideal weather. The Wright Museum in Wolfeboro has a meticulously preserved collection of items commemorating America’s involvement in WWII. If history isn’t your thing, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center has fascinating live animal exhibits and natural science programming that are sure to educate and delight people of all ages. The more than 40-year-old science center also provides lake cruises, so check their website for more information.
Enjoy your trip to Lake Winnipesaukee, and don’t forget to reserve your shuttle now with Lakes Regional Airport Shuttle.
