This weekend I was lucky enough to get to attend the New Hampshire March on Washington in Portsmouth. Of all the elements I saw including creative signs, marching bands, and giant crowds of people, one thing stood out to me: entire families came out together in support of the cause. Whether or not you believe in the efforts of the march this weekend, it was amazing to see these families making an event of going out into their communities to celebrate peaceful protest and our American right to speech. Our drivers got the unique task of being a part of the march this weekend by driving some women to the March on Washington in Boston. Today we applaud them for their bravery.
A Peaceful March
The best thing about the march was that people were peaceful as it was promised. Volunteers connected to the national effort put the marches together without compensation and hoped for good behavior. There were three permitted marches in our state this weekend: Portsmouth, Concord, and Lancaster. When I was in Portsmouth, I met some people whose family members had traveled as far a New York City and Washington D.C. to participate.
The LRAS Initiative
It is through events like these that we like to make it known that The Lakes Region Airport Shuttle isn’t just a transport to Logan and Manchester Regional. Whatever life event becomes most important to you is one to which we can shuttle. We were so grateful that the women we drove to Boston decided to include us in their trip.
It is estimated that more than a thousand people gathered in Concord, 3500 in Portsmouth, and about 400 in Lancaster for the marches this weekend. Congratulations to all who went out to make their voices heard!
