Some New Englanders just love snow. They see it falling outside and it gives them a whimsical feeling. They daydream about going on the ski slopes, taking their kids out to tube down the side of a mountain, or about building a snowman right in front of their house so all the neighbors can see.
Then...there are the rest of us. We’re hoping we won’t press snooze too many times because we still need to clear off our cars to get to work in the morning. For us it’s a cold, uninhabitable wasteland of ice and sleet out there and staying inside to pretend it isn’t happening sounds like a great plan! Today’s blog has something for all of us…
Snow Sweethearts
For those snow sweethearts out there, our community has some of the best winter nature trails. I remember the adventures as a kid when I got to snowshoe around looking for animal trails. Why not take your kids on an adventure to Prescott Farm Environmental Center or the Squam Lakes Science Center this winter? Their staffs know how to teach kids and adults about New Hampshire’s foremost snow creatures! Both locations have Saturday programs for kids and adults.
Prescott Farm: Saturdays in January/February
10:00am-11:30am OR 12:30pm-2:00pm
$8 for pre-registered members; $10 for pre-registered non-members; $12 at door
Squam Lakes Science Center: Saturdays and Select Sundays until March 11th
1:00pm-3:00pm
$11 for members; $15 for non-members
Snow Skeptics
For the rest of you...the Lakes Region Airport Shuttle offers rides to work during awful morning commutes! Let us be the ones to clear the snow off our shuttles, pick you up at home, take you to get your morning coffee, and drop you off at work on time and without stress. “Relax! We’ll Drive!” The next time you turn on WMUR and read snow, give us a call at 1.888.386.8181 or book online for your ride to and from work in the Lakes Region.
