"What could be better? The community of New Hampshire coming together in a beautiful place to share, create, and participate in music."
-Nina Allen Miller, French Horn Player at the Portland Symphony Orchestra and Make Music Plymouth Ukulele Event Leader of 2014
When you go to Make Music Plymouth in the White Mountains, that's exactly what you're getting: A great community working together in a beautiful place for music's sake. This year's event is on June 20th. It starts at 10AM on Main Street in Plymouth and goes on until 3PM. Walking around town, you will see performers at every corner playing guitars, singing, using percussion, and getting onlookers involved in their music making. Last year's event was the biggest example of community pride we have ever seen. There are some very talented performers on this day, some great food at the stores surrounding, and events to partake in.
One of the big events on this day includes the business called Music & Arts. It's the largest national chain for selling band and orchestra instruments to students. They offer instrument rentals, sell instruments, sell sheet music, and anything anyone needs/wants to make the music that enriches their souls! One of the services they offer is called the "Music Expedition" or known by its more common name as the instrument petting zoo. Kids can come up, touch the instruments, ask questions, and play them with the help of the petting zoo attendants. Last year was a huge success with the kids and Music & Arts wished they had brought more staff!
The festival is also looking forward to bringing a yoga session onto the Town Common with Yoga Studio 8. People are invited to bring their yoga mats over for the 10AM class, find a spot, and enjoy a free class on the lawn while they listen to the sounds of acoustic music all around on Main Street. It's an incredible sight to see as well as to hear so much musical enjoyment at once! For more information about the specific yoga class, you can call the studio at 603-960-0944. Karen Price can answer any specific questions about the event or her awesome studio on Tenney Mountain in Plymouth!
This year's event sponsor is the Central New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and they are working alongside the Town of Plymouth as well as last year's main sponsor, The New Hampshire Music Festival. All parties are excited to offer the community and its visitors this day to enjoy the day of music! There are still slots to sign up if you're interested in performing! Just head to the Make Music Plymouth Facebook page and click on "sign up" to choose your time and place! See you there!
