After the comments about just how much snow we’re getting, come the comments that say, “Where is it all going to go?!” Well, we do know that some of it will turn to mud, if not all of it. Then after it melts, it is our task to live on mushy ground until the sun comes out. But even when the sun does come out, it’s still cold and the ground is all gross! To combat this problem with the muddy Lakes Region, we’ve decided to compile a list of ideas for you “Lakes Region-ers” to partake in that is mud-related and possibly enjoyable.
The first thing you can do is go to the Common Man Spa in Plymouth, NH. They have a spa option called the “Phytomer Spa Facial” that is described as: “An anti-aging facial will leave your skin renewed. A self-heating mud is applied to the feet to aid in detoxification and relaxation. A series of masks, lotions and potions are applied to your skin to exfoliate, rebalance and tone. Enjoy a scalp, face, neck, shoulder, and hand massage during your treatment”. The whole spa smells like goat’s milk lotion and has this incredible rustic look. It’s the perfect place to go if you’re boycotting the outdoors in the classiest way possible.
The next choice for mud isn’t so “classy.” In fact, you are pretty much guaranteed to have a mud mask by the end of your ride. I’m talking about ATV tours at Dirtventures in Lincoln! You rent the ATV, choose a trail, put on your equipment, and a trained guide will lead you through the beautiful scenic tours of the trails! If you want to embrace the mud season with open arms, definitely choose Dirtventures!
Now, the mud I’m talking about is during our “April Showers” season but you can continue enjoying the mud in the summertime too! At Loon Mountain, also in Lincoln, you can try the Monster Mud Run on July 11th for some non-boycotted mud exercise! There are 20 obstacles over 3.1 miles of area. It boasts to be the “toughest obstacle race in New Hampshire.” To me, that just sounds like a challenge! Registration goes on until July 1st and after the mud run, you can enjoy live music and food from Lakes Region vendors!
Don’t let this mud season worry you, Lakes Region-ers. There are quite a few activities to try that won’t leave you hiding in your house watching Netflix until the summer comes.
